Data and Research

Some investigations required collecting, processing, and analyzing large databases. Also personal projects, exploratory analysis, testing with data visualization, and other things I like to do. :)

Monitoring Attacks on the Press during the 2024 Elections - CDJor

During Brazil's 2024 municipal elections, the Coalition in Defense of Journalism (CDJor) monitored the challenges faced by press freedom during a period marked by intense political polarization and growing hostility toward journalists and media outlets. I contributed by collecting cases, analyzing the data, and writing the report.

The Role of Journalism in Defending the Amazon: A Comparative Analysis of Brazil and Colombia

The publication examines the conditions affecting the right to freedom of the press and expression, focusing on journalism and other forms of public interest information production, particularly in the Colombian Amazon region and the western Brazilian Amazon. The project was a partnership between Abraji and the Fundación para la Libertad de Prensa (FLIP). I co-authored the report, conducting documentary analyses and semi-structured interviews with journalists, communicators, and activists from the region.

Monitoring of attacks on the press in Brazil

The project is a collective effort organized by the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji) to combat violations of press freedom and freedom of expression in the country. I am the researcher responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing the data. I also work on writing reports and organizing events to disclose the results.

Monitoring of gender-based violence against journalists

This project is an offshoot of the monitoring of attacks on the press, also carried out by Abraji. The research was developed in 2021 based on the need to closely analyze gender-based violence against women journalists and communicators who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.

The first year of the research received support from the Global Media Defense Fund from UNESCO. My role in the project includes collecting and analyzing data, producing reports, and disclosing its results.
